Often when people think of Ibiza the first thing that comes to mind is loud music, excessive drinking, foam parties and dancing until the sun comes up – not exactly a first choice for families with kids! But don’t let Ibiza’s wild reputation put you off. There are plenty of family friendly resorts ready to welcome you and your children to the more laid back side of this beautiful island. Popular with families, Santa Eulalia, the third biggest resort on the island is an ideal choice with its upmarket feel and relaxed nightlife among rustic surroundings. Cala Llonga offers one of the longest beaches on Ibiza and with its gently sloping shoreline, it is a safe choice for swimming with children. For a resort even further from the party-goers of San Antonio, try Es Cana in the East of the island, with its clear waters and beautiful beaches. For a real taste of paradise, why not try the resort of Portinatx with its three golden beaches, crystal clear waters and stunning scenery – there is a reason it was chosen as the setting for the film South Pacific!

Family friendly accommodation

Ibiza offers a wealth of choices when it comes to where to stay. If you’re looking for an all-inclusive hotel with all mod cons, a budget guesthouse, or perhaps you would prefer an apartment, maybe even a villa, with its own private pool? Whatever fits the bill, you are sure to find something suitable on Ibiza. All the biggest names in the tourist industry offer accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. Most of the major hotels also provide daily entertainment and miniclubs for the children – what better way for them to make friends and have fun! Almost every property has its own pool and some even have their own waterparks, meaning hours of entertainment for the little ones without ever having to leave the comfort of your hotel.

Family friendly days out

Ibiza is a very compact island, so getting around is easy and cheap. Hire a car for a few days or use the excellent public bus services and get yourselves out and about and seeing the sights. As well as the multitude of spectacular beaches, there are also tons of activities to keep you and the kids occupied for your whole vacation. Ride the mini-train from Portinatx for a three hour trip around the North of the island or rent a boat and explore the coastline along San Antonio Bay. Get up close to marine life at the Aquarium Cap Blanc or admire the fish in their natural habitat from a glass bottom boat on a trip to the uninhabited island of Es Vedra. All kids love a trip to the water-park, and Aguamar at Playa D’En Bossa won’t disappoint. Spend a day riding the slides and cooling off in the man made lagoon. Visit the Can Marçà Caves and admire the amazing geological formations that have formed over centuries, or take a stroll around the famous Hippy Market at Es Cana and maybe grab a bargain. Even if it rains, the kids won’t get bored as you can take them to Vila Parc Bowling near Ibiza Town, the perfect all weather attraction.

Family friendly nightlife

When the sun goes down and the stars come out, Ibiza really comes alive. Although families with children don’t want to hit the clubbing scene, there is still plenty to do in the evenings for all the family. Ibiza, like the rest of Spain, welcomes children into most restaurants, with many offering kid’s menus. You can always find somewhere to have a delicious family meal at a reasonable price. Many bars offer outdoor terraces where children are welcome throughout the evening, and of course, most hotels offer evening entertainment to keep the whole family amused. If the adults are tempted to sneak off and experience the wilder side of the island, some hotels offer a babysitting service. Alternatively, you may wish to hire a nanny for the night from Childcare Ibiza. Knowing that the kids are in safe hands, the grown-ups can enjoy a worry free night out in one of San Antonio’s famous nightclubs.
